The Bitter Night

And over there
There lies a fire,
But all I feel are wind-blown ashes.

It’s in the woods,
Among the oaks,
In a ring of laughter
Friendship love,
Obscured by smoke.

I pass through like a ghost,
No warmth,
And dread a season more,
Alone.

Ghostly tears flood the forest floor.
